On the auspiciously selected day of Jineil & Kesh's Wedding - a spectacular set of events unfolded. Preparations began early for Kesh with a floral braid being threaded into her hair. Her Sari was traditional Red, symbolic of commitment and love, with rich embellishment in gold - truly an exquisite effect. Time is taken to ensure each element of the bride's look is carefully placed and aligned. Symbolic of sacredness and purity, a beautifully embellished coconut as well as several other presentations of the coconut make up part of the wedding day rituals.
The Wedding takes place under a decorative canopy / Mandap - any photographers dream, with its amazing lighting and rich decoration. The constant hum of Sanskrit Mantras performed by the Brahmin / Priest is engaging and over the period of a couple of hours, many symbolic offerings and rituals are performed in the flickering light of Agni / symbolic fire of light and illumination. The blessing of the Bride / Saubhagya Chinha is performed by the Groom and is particularly touching, as he dots her forehead with red and threads the Mangal Sutra around her neck. They symbolically touch each others hearts to signify their union and giving of themselves to each other. Through all the events family are ever present and form part of the ceremony, bonding the families through all generations.
With a change into a light and lovely pink and silver adorned Sari, Kesh was ready for the dinner that took place at her family home. Again a selection of delicious traditional dishes made by family members was provided and had guests coming back for more! The evening concluded with the traditional departure of the daughter from the home and welcoming into her new home and life with her husband.
